What is a fob versus a lanyard?: A fob is the named plate on the ring: a disc, a tag, a leather tab, or a flat plate with a hole and a short line of type. A lanyard is the carry when a pocket is the wrong place: a cord, a visitor badge, a clip on a bag, or a breakaway catch. The ring holds both. Where does a fob live on a park day?: On a zipper pocket high in the bag, or clipped to a strap, not in a hip pocket that will be emptied at a gate.
